Another month has flown by! Charlotte's 10 month "birthday" was spent with mom and Major, lots of blankets, and no power! DFW received a record 12.5 inches of snow on the 11th. I picked C up from school around noon and we enjoyed a nice afternoon watching the snow. Wilson was in Houston for work. My fear came to fruition when the power went off just after 6 pm. Wilson offered to get us a hotel room but we couldn't get the car out of the garage. Friday the 12th dragged. It is so sad how dependent we are on TV & internet. Power finally came back on around 9 pm -- not soon enough, I don't "rough it" very well!!!
Some 10 month highlights:
* We now have a "creepy crawler". She is a speed demon. We have to constantly look behind us, especially in the kitchen. She's like Major -- poised to collect anything that drops!
* She is also pulling up to stand. Wilson got to witness the first -- pulling up to stand using the fireplace seating. This morning I found her standing up in her bed. My baby isn't a baby anymore. :(
* She is a world traveler. Miss C's passport has a Costa Rica stamp in it!
* She definitely has her own language & loves to communicate. We went for a walk yesterday & she talked non-stop for 45 minutes! :)
* Separation anxiety has set in and it's not fun! She cries when left with anyone unfamiliar. Unfortunately this has coincided with a change of rooms at daycare. We want her to be with the kids more her age but she is having a really hard time adjusting to new teachers. We pray that this will pass quickly.
* We will see her pedi opthalmologist in March for a check up. We are hoping that all the patching is working. She does appear to see with the patch on the good eye. We don't know the quality of the images, but she can definitely grab toys, track fingers/objects, etc. It really is amazing that she can see at all in an eye without a lens. She continues to take off her patch if we look away or if she is not distracted by an activity. We have a set of arm restraints to use on bad days (e.g. 4 patches in 2 hours). We absolutely hate using them -- they make her look like a penguin & make her mad. She can't crawl with them on -- she just lies on her belly and tries to flop like a seal. It's soooo sad. We pray for strength to continue with the patching, trusting that some day she may have good vision due to these efforts.
Yes, we do take pictures of our child. I know recent posts have not included pictures. They're on multiple cameras and the cameras are at home, while I try to type at the office to maximize my time with C at home. I'll work on adding some pics soon!
